Musala Hut

Musala Hut is located on the shore of the Lower Musala Lake. Its altitude is the highest of all mountain huts in Bulgaria - 2,389 meters. Despite this, it is very easily accessible: it takes about an hour on foot from the top station of the Yastrebets lift to the hut along an almost flat dirt road.
The hut is the main starting point for climbing the highest peak on the Balkan Peninsula - Musala.

The Crown of Musala

The Crown of Musala is one of the two classic alpine traverses in Rila – the other being the Malyovitsa Traverse. There is no shortage of dangerous sections, especially at Trionite (The Saws) and on the descent from Malka Musala Peak, so if you have doubts about your preparation, it is better to hire a mountain guide.
