Tevno Ezero Shelter – Bezbog Hut

When setting off from the shelter, pay attention at the start not to veer off onto the red-marked trail to the left. Even if you do mistake it, you can easily correct your error within the first two hundred meters, as the two paths run nearly parallel to each other. The blue-marked trail is the correct one - after a brief, steep climb, it will lead you to the Left Kraledvor Gate, located between the peaks of Kralev Dvor and Momin Dvor. These names might evoke images of peaks surrounded by lush meadows, or 'yards,' ('dvor' means 'yard') but you will see from afar that they are made of rock rather than grass. Once you pass through the Gate, you will find yourself on a scree slope of big stones. Despite their size, many of them will prove quite loose underfoot, so watch your step. This rugged terrain continues until you approach the Kraledvorski Lakes, where the path becomes more stable. A little more descending brings you to a junction where your trail merges with the paths coming from the Demirkapiya Gate and Dzhano Peak. Shortly after, you will emerge onto the shores of Popovo Lake.

The trail continues along the shore of Popovo Lake. Near the beginning, there is a slightly trickier rocky section where you will have to scramble and might need to use your hands for balance. After that, it is mostly flat. Popovo Lake is a highly popular destination, so if it is the weekend, you will likely encounter quite a few people along the way. Most of them will have hiked up from the Bezbog Hut, which is where you are heading as well. From this point on, you will be on a wide, excellently marked trail. However, it is not a short walk; to reach the Bezbog Cirque - where the lake and hut of the same name are located - you must overcome one last ridge, which means another final ascent and descent.
